Pre-Season Training Begins!

The.Equestrian Team returned to the Red Barn on Sept 18th to begin a week of pre-season training before the start of the academic year. Returning riders will participate in daily practices, fitness sessions, barn work and clinics. This year's featured clinics include Driving, with 2011 World Pairs Driving competitor Kathi Dancer (Woodside) and Vaulting with 2010 WEG gold medalists F.A.C.E Vaulters (Woodside).

In addition, Pre-Season provides incoming freshman the chance to participate in a pre-season practice session before Tryouts on Oct 2nd. We strongly encourage interested riders to contact Justine Thomas justinet@stanford.edu or Rachel Kolb rkolb@stanford.edu to arrange a time (around their busy Orientation schedule) to come out and meet fellow riders, as well as the Team's horses and coaches.

This year the Team is looking for riders in all disciplines including Hunt Seat, Dressage and Western. While the coaches look for experienced riders with a variety of backgrounds from the 'A' show circuit to NRHA events to IDA medalists, this year all three teams are also looking for a rider to fill their introductory levels. The idea candidate is someone who has done less than 24 weeks of instructor and/or rode as a child and is looking to get back in the saddle and be part of a fun, supportive and successful nationally ranked team!

Tryouts will be held on Oct. 2nd from noon-2pm and open to all.
