Dressage season kicks off

Kate Erickson pilots Stanley through a winning First Level test
The first full season for Stanford's new dressage team kicked off on October 31. Stanford Equestrian hosted the Intercollegiate Dressage Association, Region U at home with Ivetta Harte judging. Highlight performances from Stanford's young team included a win by junior Kate Erickson at First Level with sophomore Kristen Malinak making her IDA debut right behind her in second. Freshman Alexandra Tataru scooped up a second-place finish in Upper Training, and Ariane Tom, who joined Stanford Equestrian this year as a senior, earned third in her first collegiate horse show. The Stanford White dressage team finished the day in first, with the Stanford Cardinal team in sixth.

Stanford dressage returned to action the next weekend, traveling to UC Davis. Stanford's team White again pulled together a strong performance to finish a respectable 3rd, held up by the consistent performances of Kristen Malinak, who won her first IDA blue, and Ariane Tom, who posted a high score of the day.

Stanford Dressage next competes on November 21 at Cal Poly, SLO.
